Since 2008
Our Mission
Founded in 2008, the Colorado Honeybee Festival was created to educate the public about the global honeybee crisis, particularly the impacts of colony collapse, and to support a thriving, sustainable bee population.
Healthy bees are essential to agriculture in the Grand Valley, across Colorado, and around the world.
The Colorado Honeybee Festival raises awareness through hands-on education and the arts, inspiring a deeper understanding of the vital role bees play in our food systems. Our mission is to expand public knowledge of pollinator health, the importance of bees in local agriculture, and the many benefits of bee-based products.
We proudly partner with Grand Junction, Fruita and Palisade’s fruit and wine industries to highlight the region’s agricultural heritage, and collaborate with chefs, makers, artists, and artisans to bring our mission to life. Together, we celebrate the connection between bees, community, and the land that sustains us.

History and Agriculture
Cross Orchards
Cross Orchards Historic Site is the perfect setting for the Colorado Honeybee Festival, reflecting the Grand Valley’s deep agricultural roots.
Once one of the largest commercial orchards in the region, the site preserves early 1900s farm life with its historic buildings, equipment, and open grounds.
Hosting the festival here highlights the timeless connection between bees and agriculture, reminding visitors that thriving orchards depend on healthy pollinators.
